ENTERING HIS GATES WITH THANKSGIVING

How do you begin your prayers? I suspect King David and the Holy Spirit inspiring him were not simply speaking of entering the formal temple when they gave us the 100th Psalm. Verse 2 shows us that the psalm is about coming into the presence of the Lord. Verse 4 might well be applied to beginning prayers.
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!”
Discipline yourself to spend time praising God before you do anything else in your private prayers. You will find that changes the whole tenor of your prayers.

  1. "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say , rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving (thanksgiving)let your requests be made known to God. Ph. 4:4-6
What a priviledge and a pleasure it should be to serve the Creator and the risen, conquering Savior and King. The battle is not ours, but the Lords. Keep it up Dave and everyone else.

  2. David, SO glad to hear you are safely home. Praying you get rest.

Okay, you've touched on one of my weaknesses . . . I have to REALLY concentrate on this . . . I have SO much to be thankful for, yet I so easily get consumed by my "needs" list. I have been focusing more on thanking God for what He's done, and being assured that He will answer my needs before I even call to Him. And you're right, praying in this manner changes EVERYTHING!

    Blessings to you!

    1. There is also a great power in praise above our thanksgiving.
